I was told by the owner that this was his grandfathers WW2 Army Musicians hat emblem.   ??  I thought this was a School hat emblem.  did they use these in WW2 on visor hats?

School or band. Not military

You know I always thought that too- until recently I came up with a PHOTO of a WWII soldier wearing one!

Wow interesting..  Maybe they were right!!!!

If you look in Emerson's book on US insignia and uniforms page 228 fig 13-25. You will find this badge listed as German made and used in the early 1950's.

Here's mine, but it was made in England.
