June 20, 20224 yr #1 Good evening, For a future purchase can you confirm if this badge is authentic and the WW2 period. Thanks. Cordially
June 20, 20224 yr #2 Yes and no. Early on these were supposedly worn by several parachute infantry units as a generic infantry oval to include the 502nd P.I.R. Their later WW2 oval has a light blue center and a dark blue border.
June 20, 20224 yr Author #3 If I understand correctly, this oval was not worn at the end of the war or after the war on the uniforms of the veterans.
June 20, 20224 yr #4 As Tonomachi stated, this is an example of the more widely considered 502nd Airborne Trimming (Oval):
June 20, 20224 yr Author #5 Ok thank you both for this information. But it is possible that this oval will be found on a uniform.
June 20, 20224 yr #6 Yes, both your original post, dark blue center w/medium blue border and my light blue center w/ dark blue border could be used as a trimming (oval) for a Paratrooper Badge for the WW2 period. However, if I were to want a representation for a 502nd Paratrooper, I would choose my light blue center w/ dark blue border.
