Good evening,

For a future purchase can you confirm if this badge is authentic and the WW2 period.

Thanks.

Cordially

Yes and no.  Early on these were supposedly worn by several parachute infantry units as a generic infantry oval to include the 502nd P.I.R.  Their later WW2 oval has a light blue center and a dark blue border.

If I understand correctly, this oval was not worn at the end of the war or after the war on the uniforms of the veterans.

As Tonomachi stated, this is an example of the more widely considered 502nd Airborne Trimming (Oval):

Ok thank you both for this information. But it is possible that this oval will be found on a uniform.

Yes, both your original post, dark blue center w/medium blue border and my light blue center w/ dark blue border could be used as a trimming (oval) for a Paratrooper Badge for the WW2 period. However, if I were to want a representation for a 502nd Paratrooper, I would choose my light blue center w/ dark blue border.
