65th/9th ID Group- My Grandfather’s

I’ve shared this recently, though just got my new mannequin and thought I’d take the opportunity to photograph the group and share it in depth!

My grandfather, PFC Raymond Gabriel Cammaroto (32703540) served from 1943 to 1946. He began by serving in the tailor shop at Camp Upton, Long Island, then became an MP serving in the 349th Prisoner Escort Guard Company out of Camp Custer, MI. He then transferred to the A Company 751st MP Battalion in Edinburg Scotland and went through Infantry School at Tiddsworth Barracks in England. He then joined his combat outfit at Saarlautern, Germany- 2nd Platoon of K Company, 259th Infantry Regiment, 65th Infantry Division. He fought with the 65th to VE Day, liberating the Mauthausen concentration camp, and ended the war back in the 65th MP Platoon, ultimately transferring to the 9th Infantry Division’s MP Company where he escorted displaced persons across the continent and performed law enforcement duties in Ingolstadt, Germany.

As your can see, I’ve got his Ike Jacket, shirt, and sweater vest he purchased in Edinburg. We’ve got plenty of souvenirs- a German truck key, an afrika korps belt, several coins, photos, etc, Not pictured is his A Co 751sr MP Battalion Guidon and a music box he picked up in Regensberg, Germany. Bah Bah, as I affectionately dubbed him, was my best friend and my hero- I love him and miss him dearly. Thanks for letting me share this :)
