I recently got this in a lot of military insignia, but have never seen it before. Its made by Dieges & Clust and has a fairly unique looking castle on the front. Has anyone seen it before? Thanks ABN

The castle like building appears to be this building, the First Regiment Armory Chicago:

 

 

It was demolished in 1893.

 

 

Looks spot on to me! I actually looked up prisons to see if there were any Illinois matches. 

I am somewhat fascinated by Armories as they are quite striking looking buildings, I did not know of this one initially. Serendipity takes the credit.

 

I made an error in my previous post: it was built in 1891, then rebuilt in 1893 after a fire and finally demolished in 1967. The postcard is of the first build I believe.

My initial thought was the badge had an Armory on it. We have a few older ones in the area but not many survived. One of them was a dance hall for many years but has seen extensive remodels. It was for the 133rd Infantry Iowa National Guard before WW2. Many of the area WW2 vets from the 3th were from that Armory or neighboring units. 

 

I have Emersons book on shooting badges but cant get to it at the moment. Its a great looking badge.

The Declaration of Independence was first read publicly in 1776 on the site that became the White Plains Armory in 1910.
