Training school guidon flag?

Featured Replies

I picked up this nice double sided guidon flag the other day which belonged to the same veteran who's theater made guidon flag i got a few weeks ago. I believe this is a training school guidon due to the torch. I am not sure of the design on the bottom of the torch nor the E2 below. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

This is the guidon for E Company 2nd Training Bn Troop Bde at Fort Benjamin Harrison Indiana.  Fort Harrison had two training Battalions until about 1990 when the 2nd was disestablished. These were training companies for soldiers going through AIT and Officer courses for Adjutant General and Finance. The insignia on this guidon was for the Soldier Support Center.

After the 2nd Bn went away, there were only A, B, C, D, and E. companies of the Troop Bde. Companies A and B were AIT students, Company C was permanent party Instructors of the Finance School and AG School. Company D was the Student Officer Company, If I remember correctly Co E was for soldiers who were reclassifying into AG or Finance.

I served as First Sergeant of Company D from 1990 til 1992. Co D was for officers going through Finance and AG OBC and Officer Advance Courses. At any given time, Company D had about 350 second LTs.

Here is a one-sided guidon I was given when I left.

Wow thank you for all that information and for your service!  I will try to find out more information about the veteran. All I know is that he served in Vietnam and was an officer. Hopefully I can uncover more. Thanks again for all the help!
