Hello All,

 

Acquired this small collection of caps, as I was specifically interested in a couple to match up with some uniforms.  I assume they are WWII or between Wars era.  I am interested to know if there is anything "unique" or "special" in the collection, what the actual era of the cap is, and if there are any "keepers" beyond the two I picked out for aesthetic reasons.  All comments are welcome.

Red backing on last cap would indicate Artillery branch, Coast or Field.

Nice hats!  Many of them look to be early WWII or between the wars.  #1 is for an engineer.

 I didn't know back discs were so old. Would anyone know when they were implemented and why they rarely appear in period photos?

They were not in accordance with the uniform regulations, but as was and is often done, local approval by commanders allowed it to be done.

EM Cap #2 is post-WWII, the mohair braid was added to EM caps in 1947. It should be marked under the sweat band and have a metal stiffener in the front. Officer's cap #6 I think is also post-WWII I don't believe khaki cap were made in felt before that and it has the wider chinstrap used post-war but could be wrong on that one.  

You have some very Scarce and nice Interwar Caps.
