December 18, 20214 yr #1 This is the 560th from their time at Homestead AFB, 1968-70. Nice, but not especially rare. The story behind it though is that I purchased this patch while TDY at Homestead in 1980 long after the 560th was gone. I was ignorant of that fact (this was the dawn of my collecting days), and given that said patch was on sale at the base military clothing store, I assumed it was another of Homestead's units. Obviously the folks at the store had found a batch in the back room and dumped them at a bargain price ( 75 cents, should have bought them all). The moral to this saga is the reaffirmation of the rule that no rules are concrete - especially those concerning timelines - when it comes to patches.
December 19, 20214 yr #3 Hah, me too! Last one of these I saw went over $150. Harder to get than you think. You may have been able to retire a year or two earlier if you got them all... Randy

(Those 75 cent 560th patches were tied in a bundle just sitting in a shopping cart.)
