November 30, 20214 yr #1 I won this on a online auction this past weekend. Green helmets are for maintanence,, also catapult & arresting gear. Helmet is dated July 1987. Goggles are 1974, still using the same molds? Only real issue is that foam around goggles & inside hearing protection is or has failed & falling apart. What would PA5-120-10 refer to? And good luck finding the user J.B. Thanks for looking Paul
December 20, 20214 yr #2 Very nice helmet. The code numbers represent a Pacific Fleet squadron (PA5) and 120 is the Airframe shop of this squadron. The “10” represents the 10th helmet in the Airframe shop assigned to some AirFramer named “ JB “. Most likely an F/A-18 squadron. Chris

December 22, 20214 yr #4 That is a cool one and I think the initials are "JWB". Looks like a "W" snuck in the middle to me. Best, Rob

December 23, 20214 yr #6 I’m trying to remember what 4-M was. Was that a Maintenance QA checker? It’s been almost 50 years since I worked on a flight deck, those days are sort of “Hazy “ shall we say. Somewhere, I have the box that the last set of goggles I got for my flight deck helmet. I used it for storage of stuff in my locker and as a hard surface to stencile my clothes on Has my name all over it, layer after layer of stencil ink. If I only knew back then. As a side note, it was also common to have two sets of goggles on your helmet. One with clear lenses and one with tinted.
December 23, 20214 yr Author #7 I seem to be on a roll as far picking up USN helmets, this one & a WW2 talker setup posted in groups. Thanks for all of the comments & observations.
