October 26, 20214 yr #1 Hello, All I recently picked up a pair of leggings that have sent me on a search for more detailed information, (and I've got lots of leggings). I am hoping someone on the forum have some insight about these that might help me. I would call them a standard pair of P1936 USMC Leggings, except for one interesting difference. The boot strap is made of "thick" leather. These leather straps are not the thin-type of the '20's - but are a full 3/16" inch thick! There are no rivets in the construction, the keeper has no buckle and is the friction-type standard on the P1936 canvas strap. All the loops and studs would be bright brass (but for the patina of age) and the keeper is blackened brass. There is no internal maker stamping or tag, though they are stenciled "P. K. Herr" inside both. They have certainly seen "service" but are still in good shape. There is definitely both black and brown shoe polish present inside at the ankle. In all my years and all my leggings, I have not once seen a pair like this. I do wonder if they were "trialed" alongside the canvas strap - and the canvas won? Either way, they are quite unique and any thoughts are welcome. I can also post more detailed pics, if anyone thinks they will help.
