January 3, 200917 yr #1 I have been noticing a few BMCO M8 Scabbards for sale recently that have the double hook wire fastener but still have the shorter frog. One I've seen has the B/2/3/N code which puts in the range of the M8A1, still marked M8, but with the long frog. Anyone have any input on this? Thanx, Butch

Thanx, Butch All factory new M8's had the short web hanger and NO hooks. But once in the field some were modified by changing out the web hanger and/or adding the hooks. All factory new M8A1's had the long web hanger and hooks. Some of the early production M8A1's were made using up left over "US M8" marked metal throats and some collectors/dealers refer to those as "M8's". But the hooks and long web hanger define them as M8A1.
