I'm still sorting out my basement and came across this M6 Milspar Bayonet still sealed in the original box. Will it decrease the value if I open the box or should I leave it this way. I've already got one out of the box. I wouldn't think that a sealed 1962 box would not make that much difference. Are these common?

I used to own several of those but foolishly opened some of them. Today I just got one like yours and no way will I ever open it up. Columbus MIlpar is a common maker and easy to find already out of the box so I'd suggest leaving yours as is. With the rising values of Viet Nam War militaria a sealed in box bayonet for the M14 rifle is bound to increase in value.

As always, Greg gives good advice. I just had the one, so I opened it when I got it to make sure it was marked with the DAS. It is. The parkerizing is very dark--almost charcoal color.

I've seen them with charcoal grey blades, light grey blades, and even one with blued blade. I wish I'd kept that one.
