Greetings to all,

I am currently working on a WW2 USN Corpsman project. Uniforms and medical gear. I was wondering if anyone has an opinion on these 2 uniforms Ruptured Ducks as found on USMC dress greens? One is a Navy blue diamond and the other is a USMC green diamond. Which is "correct"? Was there any regulations for this or did the Veteran just use what they had available?

 

These are not my uniforms just photos I found on the net. Thanks to the owners for posting them!

Ruptured ducks were sewn on at the separation center as the soldier, sailor, or marine was demobilizing. I'm sure that a sailor wearing marine greens could very well end up with a blue ruptured duck if he didn't separate with the unit. If he separated with the marines, his ruptured duck would have matched his uniform. Both variations would be considered to be correct.

I agree with Allans statement and have seen both combinations used.

 

I have a 1st Marine Division Corpsman uniform with the blue discharge on it.
