The United War Mothers of America was incorporated in the state of Massachusetts on 10 May 1943. Its objects and purpose were as follows:

 

"To establish a permanent organization for the welfare and assistance of men and woman who have served in the Armed Forces of the United States in World War #2, and those dependent upon them. To contact hospitals, to bring cheer and comfort to all service men and women in such institutions, to visit them when they are confined to their homes. To encourage patriotism, to prove and maintain suitable quarters to carry out any and all fore going activities."

 

The organization went officially defunct on 17 November 1986.
