sweet find! as for cleaning it up Id just worry about the rust. I have seen alot of these older knives with the grind marks.

 

my neighber once mentioned army had a sharpening wheel so it was probably pretty common to have grind marks on these older blades( probably a result of the level of experience of whoever was working the wheel).
