Thanks all, for the positive comments. I’m grateful to the forum member that gave me the opportunity to bring these medals back to Southern California, the last terra firma that Ernie Baca called home. Chief Baca and men like him gave their lives for the lives we have today. It was an honor to give some time to tell the story behind this Purple Heart and Good Conduct medal as best I could.

 

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this memorial, & history lesson! It was like reading a well illustrated book. RIP Chief Baca.

BTT for Memorial Day.    There are three deaths. The first is when the body ceases to function. The second is when the body is consigned to the grave. The third is that moment, sometime in the future, when your name is spoken for the last time. But today.. Is not that day for Ernie Baca.   In memory of the fallen who gave the their lives for America in combat,  may their sacrifice never have been for naught or forgotten.
