PICKED THIS UP THE OTHER DAY. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ONE WITH THE ADDED HOOK AND SNAPS. I BELIEVE IT IS A EARLY WW2 PRIVATE PURCHASE. WERE THESE SNAPS AND HOOKS ADDED MUCH. I CAN NOT FIND A PHOTO IN WEAR WITH THE MODIFICATION. THANKS FOR ANY INFO. ED

Hi.

 

This kind of mod. were made mostly by USAAF B-29 crews than USN/USMC. Hard to tell if it is done by a Naval or Marines air crew member.

 

Btw. nice cap!

There is photographic evidence of the USAAF B1 caps modified with O2 mask snaps...the one that comes to mind is an ETO crew member...not out of the realm to think a Navy or USMC crew did the same

I HAVE HAD 1 OF THE USAAF CAPS BEFORE. NEVER HAD THE USN USMC MOD CAP BEFORE. ANYONE HAVE ANY PHOTOS OF 1 IN USE. THANKS FOR THE INFO PHANTOMFIXER . THANKS AGAIN ED
