December 27, 20178 yr #1 Does anyone know +/- when the subsequent award knots "hitches" started to appear on Army GC ribbon bars? My wife's Grandfathers Ike jacket (he served Jun 41-Oct 45) has two on the bar, but its the only wartime Ike I have with them. I'm thinking he may have added post war sometime? sorry for the crappy pic. I only have my camera phone and its auto focus has been acting goofy
December 27, 20178 yr #2 I believe they were authorized at the same time the GCM was created, earlier than you might think. -Ski
December 27, 20178 yr #3 That's good to know Ski, I always thought they came about in the 1960's....intresting
December 27, 20178 yr #4 According to the Call of Duty the medal came into being 6/28/41. President Roosevelt in 1943 changed policy that medal could be awarded after one year, however each additional award after that required 3 years service.
December 27, 20178 yr Author #5 going back through his records- he re-enlisted in the ERC from 45-48 and again from 48-51 so I bet thats why- even though this was his going home Ike with ruptured duck- he still added the knots
