Its from the first indochina war so pre official US involvement. Unfortunately I dont have my references handy but Im sure someone will pretty soon.

15th regiment?

This looks consistent with a set of 1958 ARVN Divisional Insignia that Cecil Smyth included in his ARVN insignia book.

 

He labeled these as "Light Division"s, which might equate to a regiment.

 

Unfortunately, he did not have one for the 15th, but it looks similar in construction to his other examples.

While thumbing through some old VICN's I found this piece listed as the 15th Light Field Division. Consistent with what Gil was saying
