WW2 Army Qualification Badge Question

How common was it to have "chromed" badges and bars? Now a days, you you can private purchase all your insignia in the STAYBRITE finish, but was this available that far back. Picked up a qual bar that would fit into ww2 era, but its definaltely all shiny and no oxidized finish on it. Thanks.

Haven't seen a WWII chrome one. Some Sterling WWII badges have an almost white finish to them that seems to stay bright, although they aren't shiny like chrome. A photo may help.

Out of town on vacation, but almost identical to this one. Pin back. Unmarked. Came out of ww2 vets estate. Possible after war purchase?

I would think a nickel wash would be more common than chrome plating back in WW2. Nickel plating was more common than chrome plating back in the day.

Lets say a late WWII PX purchase for the sake of argument, Nickle like von says.

PX purchase is what I was leaning towards. I called it chrome to simplify it. Doesnt look like it was actually plated with anything just shiny like it was chrome. A nickel wash might explain it.

There's a good chance it's pre WW2. Can we see a reverse photo?
