April 1, 20179 yr Author #65 1LT Roy Pratt's remains and his FG-1D Corsair Bu.No. 14193 have never been recovered. He is memorialized by cenotaphs at the Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines, the Rhode Island Veterans' Memorial Cemetery and on the World War Two Memorial in Newport, RI outside of City Hall. Today, Badian Bay and Cebu Island in the Philippines are tourist destinations, known for white sand beaches and good diving.
April 1, 20179 yr Author #68 The Air Medal, WW2 Victory, ATO and gold aviator wings are only representative of items in absentia. When I locate two WW2-era gold stars for the Air Medal, they'll be affixed to it in tribute to 1LT Roy Chester Pratt, USMCR. All other period medals, insignia and paper are original from the veteran’s family where they have been for the past 70 years. Roy Pratt’s EGA’s are Hilborn Hamburger, the butter bars are pinback, unmarked.
