Strange Droop Wing Ring

I purchased this ring from the estate sale of a couple whose family owned Wheeler & Son Jewelers and Opticians in Salem, N.J. The history of the store starts in the mid 1800's and goes through WW2 at least, but I can't find out when it closed. At the sale there were a great many home front and sweetheart items, including this ring and several other rings with BOS logos. Also there was a Son in Service flag. The detail on the EGA is not that great, but the strange thing is what is on each side of the ring. At first, I didn't pay much attention to them, but with a close look under magnification, the heads of what I thought were eagles, look like the heads of male turkeys---snood and wattle present (I had to look up what the correct names were). I have taken the best close-ups possible with my camera. Am I seeing things? Also, there is an inscription inside if the ring. I don't believe this ring was ever worn, has great patina and is NOS from the store's inventory. Please comment---especially if you know if there might be some sort of descreet message the turkey heads represent.

Thanks, Al
