Nice weapon thats in great shape.I haven't shot this in over 20 years. The butt stock has an ORDNANCE stamp and inspector(?) stamp.Matching serial numbers to the barrel and receiver.

Thank you for the comments. It's one of my favorites, next to my M-1A1.

Were leather slings the issued sling for them?

I think you are mistaken, of course it was manufactured in 1943 :) And a very nice/rare example too!

Beautiful Shotgun. Very desireable and very valuable.

With respect to common nomenclature, it is a trench shotgun, having the heat shield, bayonet lug and sling swivels w/ sling. Riot guns have none of the aforementioned.

Thanks, Al

It took me a bit. But about 20 years ago I picked up a bayonet. From what I could find, these were made in the late 60s for use with the Trench Shotguns in Vietnam

Nope. Both had 20 inch barrels. The shotguns used for training aerial gunners or for recreational use had the longer 26 inch barrels.

You have a real gem!

Whatever sling was used for rifles was also used for shotguns. This sling doesn't appear to be a GI example, though. The keepers are fastened with staples rather than stitched.

#24

Al, good catch. However, don't forget that some of the early WWII USMC sling keepers had staples but to me a few other characteristics make me think commercial without better pics. The hole pattern was different than a standard model 1907 sling.
