January 24, 20179 yr #6 I trained with one of these in Basic Training. We had face protection shield, and groin protection. We shot at each other, like in close combat without the use/or aid of fixed sights.Note the BB gun has no sights. This was at FT Dix NJ in 1970. SKIP The theory was that you had to point,and shoot like a close ambush. SKIP
January 24, 20179 yr #7 Interesting but not so sure shooting at each other with a BB rifle is a good idea. I guess blank firing isn't the best training tool either, some firearms "experts" and instructors feel blank firing can lead to bad habits and a "false" sense of knowing what you are doing.

January 24, 20179 yr Author #9 I never heard of soldiers shooting at eachother before, but anything is possible in the military.I guess the program started in the late 50s.The instructor would throw a small target in the air and the trainee had to shoot it.Kind of like shooting at clay pigeons but up close. http://www.pointshooting.com/1aqkrif.htm

January 25, 20179 yr #12 SKIP, I also participated in the "Quick Kill" training at Ft. Dix. I did my BCT there, E-6-3, Jan, Feb, Mar of 1970.
January 25, 20179 yr #13 We used them in Basic Training at Ft. Lewis, Washington In Feb. 1968. I seen one listed on E-bay many years ago that was in the box with Papers, Rifle, and the Discs [Three sizes if I remember right]. Wish I would of gotten it.
January 25, 20179 yr #14 We used BB guns in Panama in 1985 as the aggressor force for Task Force 4-187 Rakkasans. A Platoon was selected from 3/187 Infantry to perform OPFOR duties in Panama and I was selected to go as an RTO. For the Lanes Training we were all issued BB guns and were given face shields, and as the aggressors we were in ambush positions in Lanes that squads would fire and maneuver through. Good training. It stung a little when hit with the BB but it was as close to live fire without live ammo. If I recall, no one was injured and this was one of the better received training lanes that the grunts went through. Everyone enjoyed this lane. We also had a booby trap and trip wire lane that we trained on. Trip wires, toe poppers, pressure plate booby traps.. Good training.. Panama was a good assignment, especially if you were Cadre at Fort Sherman, the home of the Jungle Warfare School.. January 25, 20179 yr #15 I remember this training, and the instructor shooting I think aspirins on the fly. It made you a much better snap shooter, put me in good for Pheasant & Quail hunting later.
January 25, 20179 yr #16 At the same time, Daisy marketed to the civilian crowd a very similar setup but called "Quick Skill" as obviously "kill" wouldn't read well in the civilian market. My brothers and I had the set with the rifle, the safety glasses and the round aluminum discs for targets.
