August 2, 20169 yr #3 Bridle rosette...I believe... Robert - You believe correctly. Based on what I have read, eagle rosettes like this one came out in 1902. Kurt
August 3, 20169 yr #4 It is a bridle rosette and specifically one for the right (off) side of the horse, These came in pairs and were different left to right. They were used throughout WWI and to the end of the Cavalry. Tom Bowers
