July 17, 201610 yr #1 Hello, we have found this bracelet near a Foxhole in West Germany. On the front stands the spelts C L M and at the back DOT and in very small letters "Kreisler USA". DOT will propably means Department of Transportation, but what is the importance of CLM? The Name or have anybody other ideas? The other things were found in the near of the bracelet. Best regards.
July 17, 201610 yr #2 Hi, i would think CLM was the wearer's initials. "DOT" can be a nickname , such as for a woman named Dorothy.
July 17, 201610 yr #3 Hello and welcome to the Forum. Most likely, the initials on the front are those of the soldier who wore it. Dot is his wife or girlfriend. Dot is short for Dottie or Dorothy. Kreisler USA is the name of the manufacturer of the bracelet. Great find. How about a close up of the rest of your findings? Al
July 17, 201610 yr #5 Stern-Kreisler Jewelry Company opened in New York City in 1914, making jewelry and watchbands. They remained in business at least through 1980, although with various ups and downs over the years. In the 1930s, the company emphasized watchbands, so identity bracelets would be a natural part of their product line. As a manufacturer, their products would have been sold nationwide, so there's no easy way to limit the geographical search for "CLM" and Dot.
July 17, 201610 yr Author #6 Hallo @ll, thanks a lot for your answers. Ok, than was my thinking very wrong. Dorothy is also possible. The found place was the first place they landed in germany. It was a place, the soldiers waiting for supplies, before they are going to the front. No patron was found. Many of Nescafe an lemon. The collars where found in boxes, so they wasn´t weared, also the shooting badge. The trailors of them we found alone. Normaly the serial no was on bracelets, so I have a chance to give it back to the family, but so it will be placed on honor in my showcase for a soldier, who has fought for his land. Best regards.
