I have a WWII shovel that appears to have once been property of the Forest service, due to it being painted red. Overall, its in nice condition.The cover is interesting in that it is marked MBGS 2. Does anyone have an idea what that stands for? Thanks for your help.

What you have is a nice Depot made USMC shovel cover!

That's not a depot made USMC cover. I can see the US in the center behind the stains. It's a pre WW1 cover in pea green.

Does anyone know what the letters and number stand for?
