September 3, 200817 yr #1 Someone's post reminded me of an old bit from the Bob and Ray Show from the early 50s. They were making fun of the infomercials of the time. Their skit was promoting the Bob and Ray Surplus Shop. They were wearing ww1 shirts and hats, and were standing in front of a table with canvas gear on it. Bob: How about this? Half of a pup tent! Ray: Shirts from the Spanish-American War! Bob: Friends! How can you loose?

One of my first purchases from the pay from my after-school job was a new unissued M43 field jacket---for $5.
