February 17, 201610 yr #19 Thijs, it is a very interesting relic and I thank you for posting it. My father carried a Garand in Europe during WWII with the 71st Infantry Division so I find these relics fascinating. Please accept my apology for the lame attempt at humor and the silliness that ensued.

You could take a grinder to that thing and you could never restore it. I am not being negative BTW, it is a cool piece. Just saying that nobody took the steel wool comment seriously.

February 17, 201610 yr #22 Very neat relic! Note the slide has been pulled and locked to the rear. Possibly to clear it, and then pulled the trigger housing out to disable it. Of course all just speculation. Thanks for posting it. BKW
