1966 dated M69

Here is the tag on my M69 flak vest, with the DSA number and stuff. I will try to get more pictures of the whole vest soon, but since it's night time and my room is really poorly lit, this is all I could get tonight. I have had this vest for a few months now, and I really like it. I got it for $60 on eBay. Enjoy!

here are some better images of the vest. Question: how easy is it to come across the strings for the side of the vest for sale? My vest is missing one. Thanks.

Great jacket.

How can you tell its 1966?

Thanks

The DSA number on the back is DSA-100-4996, which makes it 1966. DSA-1-XXXX is 1965 and DSA-100-67-C-XXXX is 1967, so the DSA number on the vest must be 1966. I have seen more 1966 dated 3/4 collar vests on eBay in the past few days than ever before, one of which has almost the exact DSA number as mine (DSA-100-4995 as opposed to my DSA-100-4996). Was there some cache of these early production vests discovered only recently?

Great vest, looks like it saw some action

I think you can use standard green paracord, or a green elastic lace.

Bit of a bump, but I was curious about those laces. They're on both this and the prior vest, and they don't look like any protection covers that spot. Seems like a fairly sizable gap for fragments to get in. Can anyone comment on how your flanks stay safe? Do the lacings let the front panels and back panel overlap?
