August 26, 20223 yr #177 Just came upon this thread for the first time. What a priceless testament to the terrible, terrible cost of the Second World War. Imagine trying to wrap your head around the pain and sorrow of the Mitts family multiplied thousands upon thousands of times for other families all across America from 1941 to 1945. The documents are truly remarkable in their portrayal of the vast bureaucracy attendant upon the processing of KIAs. They come across as shockingly cold in some cases , but imagine the enormity of the task for the War Department dealing with the affairs of all those KIAs in the midst of fighting a war? Thanks again for taking the time to post the letters and correspondence as you did. A really unforgettable read

February 26, 20242 yr #179 Good evening Peter and all and best regards from the UK! New to the forum as not exactly great with modern technology!! I’ve collected US medals for over 35 years and to cut a long story short, I picked up this medal recently in an auction. What drew me to it was it was mounted by the previous medal with a lot of modern and incorrect medals, but recognised the official hand engraving. Just started to research the veteran and this is where our story meets. Dick L Sparman from the usual webpages to have served on the same crew with Homer. I have acquired the same crew photo and have been trying to work out who is who so any assistance would be greatly received!

I have most of their details off find a grave.com and field of honor website but struggling to get much information or photos on Mack. D Walton and Walter.S Brown. Can anyone assist? could also do with a copy of the MACR if anyone has please.

I myself don’t have the skills for researching so I’m not much help. I spend all my time finding these things out of the woodwork and I spend too much time at it, just ask the people who love me.
