November 3, 20178 yr #79 Love this thread! Here are my officer Ikes. First Army officer, WWII or postwar pre-1950. Has slightly more scalloped pocket flaps and an orange lining. 1st Lt. of the Japan Logistical Commandm 1950-53. He was an infantryman with the 80th ID during WWII; note the holes for ribbons and a CIB. Custom tailored M1950 style Ike from a Lt. Charles P. Rogers, 69th ID, 1954-56. Has a zipper, high quality lining, and peaked lapels.
December 6, 20178 yr #80 To help revive this great thread I thought I'd post a couple of my favorite Ike jackets from my collection. First is an unnamed Ike from an 8th AF pilot that became an instructor after he rotated home. This is one of those items you "wish could talk". No name no numbers do not even know if he flew bombers or fighters. Just a beautiful Ike and one of my favorites.
December 6, 20178 yr #81 Next is a great Ike and it's A-2 mate. These belonged to Carl H. Miley who originally flew with RAF 133 Eagle Squadron and when transferred to the USAAF he flew with the 4th Fighter Group 336 squadron, eventually becoming 336's CO.

I've wondered if there was an AR which said which was worn where/how. No regulation I'm aware of and hard to inforce if there was one. Most often the ikes were custom made and or cut down from the standard jackets.There were tons of variations.Covered buttons,issue buttons,British buttons etc.What ever the tailor had or did was how it was or what you paid for or had money for.I have seen some buttons on a uniform from The Italalian theatre 15th AF officer where the buttons were pierced/cut out.

July 31, 20187 yr #94 Picked this one up recently. 9th AD 2nd LT with a standard Armor patch on one sleeve. My personal favorite part are the custom ribbons sewn onto the uniforms. The color is extremely vivid and the material very fine.
August 1, 20187 yr #97 Great Ike! Is that 9th AD named? Unfortunately it is not, although I sure wish it was! One of my favorite Ikes in the collection. How early were these officer variants produced? After looking in it again the tag inside dates it to December of 1942.
November 21, 20187 yr #98 Another recent addition through a trade that I believe would be fitting for this thread. I’ve got it recently so the research is only preliminary. Belonged to Captain Willard H. Fisher. He enlisted in August of 1942 and would serve until discharge in 1946. He quickly received a commissioning and would join 2nd Bn. 376th IR. 94th ID. Here he would serve the majority of his time until he was wounded by I believe a German artillery attack while attempting to cross the Saar in February of 1945. He also was awarded the BSM at before this. After recovering he was assigned to HQ co. Of the 49 AIBn. 8th AD. I believe this is likely to be the exact uniform pictured in the photo.
