Anybody know what kind of glasses they are?

the case say AMERICAN POLAROID U.S 1945.

One surplus store on line was selling these as VN era sun glasses.Guy had boxes of them.Old age do not recall who though.

Just checked e-bay.Loads on sale there,various dates.

Niki,

As your case indicates, they date back to 1945, as the patent drawing is from April of that year. They were covered briefly in a Naval Aviation News Article, but I don't believe their use was exclusive to that service and recall seeing them being worn by Army personnel in a vintage photo somewhere. It is very possible they were still in the supply system during the Vietnam era.

3 pairs of 1944 dated sunglassses, 1945 clip-ons and the 1945 dated Polaroids

 

Usually also the glasses themselves are dated somewhere too, not only the cases...
