M1 Utah Beach ESB

Hello gents,

For my first thread I wanted to share here my last entry :

A cool 1st Engineer Special Brigade M1.

The shell and the liner are marked by the bleu half-circle of the 1st ESB who was in charge of Utah Beach sector.

I don't think this an original set but both parts ( shell and liner) are completely genuine.

It's a nice addition to my D Day marked M1's serie.

unfortunately I can't upload more than one pic by post.

Greetings,

Phil.

That is a wonderful helmet, I've never seen one with just the blue arch, hang on to that one.

Not trying to start anything negative or trying to be mean; but am I the only one seeing the arch on the shell being painted over stress cracks of the helmet? Maybe my eyes are being bad today.

Do you have a close up pictures of the arch on the shell?

Hey Pat, I think I see what you're seeing, but I think it might be a scratch that was there before the blue arch went on....it doesn't look like the typical stress crack that normally extends to or originates from the rim. This mark that looks like a crack could just be a scratch from what I can see.

Hello,

Here is a close up of the paint, by the way there is no crack on the shell.

Great helmet! Does this one have a backstory behind it? Other than definitely being at Utah beach in 44. :)

Thanks GI,

The shell has been found near Saint-Marie-du-Mont in Normandy Utah Beach sector in 1985 and the liner comes from an old french collection witout any more informations.

Nice set.

You were really lucky to marry the helmet and liner.

That is what I would call a worthy restoration.

#18

Yeah a very nice set...a mariage made in heaven!............mike

Is the nape strap sewn into the suspension as a repair?

That is fabtastic.

#24

It's fixed on it, but don't know why.

#25

That’s how you want an original set to look. Also with those little idiosyncrasies like the nape. I like

it. Sweet lid
