Aide to the Governor of NY

It is often the case that the reverse has a back of a different badge. The rear tool was not changed during the installation for a new badge.

That was the first I thought that it could be a USAF prototype but the "new" design for the Aide to the President was changed in 1953 and the USAF had their own style a few years earlier, shown in "The Airmans Handbook" from May 1951.

Ya thats a real stumper.I found this page while searching.

http://www.emersoninsignia.net/files/Download/18AidesInsig.pdf

I know Bill and his Homepage with fantastic articles and so I linked his HP in #1 of this topic.

I think BALFOUR knew what they were doing at producing this silver item. 1951 and 1953 are not to far away and so it is my theory it is a USAF prototype. It took a few years to change the Army design for the Presidential Aide and parallel the USAF Aide insignias were createt. Instead of using the Army versions with silver eagle and silver shield ( border ) the Air Force created their own style of AdC insignias.

Bill has in his article a pair of AdC made by Crispulo Zamora.

and wrote this information about the items.

"Another interesting pair of aide insignia are pin-back versions made in the Philippines. These (below left) are marked Crispulo Zamora, have white stars, and are 1-9/16 inches high."

Here are pictures of front and reverse to show better details.

I'm still searching this type for my collection. Please PM if you have one for sale.

British made

hallmarked with a arrow

I know that british military items are marked with a arrow.

If you have any other information about the arrow or could assign it to a manufacturer please let me know.

The items looks very much alike the J. R. Gaunt ones.

It is not a good quality of the picture but it shows the huge quantiy of manufacturer and variations over the time. And there a a lot more I'm searching for my collection.

The older the items, the better the quality !
