That was just one mans opinion based on the pictures. He could be wrong. Like doyler, I recently read that you could buy a dye for the blade. I've also seen where vets dyed the scabbard black as well. I guess it was either done by a vet, a factory job, or done by someone after the war. I don't know that there's anyway to pin it down. I do believe it to be a 1971 knife though.

 

The site Sactroop provided is one I earlier referenced on this thread and has the most information out there on Mk2s. You may want to also contact him for another opinion.
