Picked up these four photos..

two of them are HUGE 8x10's! which I couldn't tell from the ebay listing.

 

The one appears to be named to "Clyde" in the bottom corner .. the photo with the wings.

I believe this would be his name, and not the photographer?

 

Anyways I love this first one with his hair all pompadour-like and the oh-so-stylish way he tips his hat back with the "waves" on the side.

He appears to have two stars on his aircrew wing, and none on his ribbon bar?

One photo shows a nice view of his sleeve striker and the other of the ring he wears:

 

Here we can see "Clyde" in his crew position at the radio.

Can anyone identify this aircraft?? Is it a PBY?

Looks like a post-WW2 photo where he is in a helicopter aboard an aircraft carrier. Note, the Mk-II life vest he is wearing, the sliding door and the close proximity of the carrier deck below his aircraft.

looking at the photo more and more.. I'm not even sure this is the same guy??

look at the face? The man seems to have darker hair and a widow's peak.

Also compare the nose.. I think "Clyde" has a bigger nose.

 

perhaps this photo doesn't really belong?

I am now fairly convinced after looking at the originals under magnification that this is not the same person in the last photo.

Nice photos! The first one may be post-WWII also...it looks like the WWII Victory Medal ribbon on the bar. Love the rack with aircrew badge!

right.. I figure the first one was probably discharge or just post-war.

 

I thought it was neat to find the pic with the wings in wear.. anytime I find something like this picture (for a reasonable price) I just have to get it.

I am the Ebay dealer you acquired these photos from. I'm glad to see you like them, and really enjoy seeing that you find them neat enough to post up here on the forums. It's surprising to see that you weren't expecting two of the photos to be 8X10s, as I clearly stated in my listing the approximate dimensions of all the photos in the lot.

 

A little background info on these for you. All of these photographs were sourced from the same estate, and in fact, were all found in the same small wooden box. If the snapshot of the vet sitting in the aircraft is not actually of the same person in the portraits, I'd imagine there is still some sort of connection. Both individuals are Navy aircrew radio operators, and both photos are from the same house and found in the same small box. I was not able to get a full name for this vet.

I didn't mean to make it sound like it was your fault about the photo size or that it was a bad thing!

I simply didn't read the description... I looked at the photos and new I wanted them. Wasn't concerned about the size.

 

Thanks for the additional info on the source of these photos.

"Clyde" has very unique features and the man in the smaller photo just doesn't have them.

I do believe the man in the smaller photo is a different person.. perhaps a brother or other relative?

Maybe even a friend who stayed in the service and sent a letter years later? We will never know I suppose.
