October 20, 201411 yr #2 Hello, what i know is a more or less timeframe, but not too much precise. Direct forerunner of N-4 Mitten should be the very similar Pattern 1949, issued starting in 1950 - then, the following improved N-4B Mitten wich was already in use at beginning of 1960s (but do not know the precise date). thus, thinking of a possible (but unconfirmed to me) pattern N-4A, we could assume the N-4 could be issue around the mid.'50s? More details I do not have available. Franco.
