September 15, 201411 yr #1 Hello all, I found this picture in my attic. All I know is about it is that it came from someone on my moms side. I asked my mom and she knows nothing about it.
September 15, 201411 yr #3 That is a Civil War image, looks to be a Cavalryman, Federal. Exceptional image.

September 15, 201411 yr #5 What's sort of odd, is the little colored flag below is the Confederate States 1st National "Stars and Bars" . Looks like it superimposed over SC. Is that a sticker or actually embossed into the matte? Not sure why. As the soldier appears ro be fully federal with a 4 button sack coat, a hardy hat that has been pushed down (modified, or similar style slouch hat) , M1851 belt plate, saber looks to be an M1840 "wristbreaker" Cavalry saber. Two revolvers, one stuck in belt looks like a Remington 1858 Army. Great bugle. No issues about authenticity, just odd a Federal cavalryman would also have a Confederate flag below him. Maybe someone was making a statement?
