I understand what you are saying. I also did time on Amphibs, USS New Orleans and USS Denver, and they both had Aviator COs.

 

My original statement about COMPHIBRON COs and aviators was wrong.

 

What is unusual is that this guy (USS Lincoln XO) had nuclear training and did not go to a follow-on CVN Skipper tour after his deep draft Skipper tour.
