Douglas MacArthur’s Ribbons in 1943

I recently found this image online of Douglas MacArthur’s ribbons, as pictured in the October 4, 1943 issue of Life Magazine. The two I found of most interest are the Silver Star with all the OLCs and the WWI Army Occupation with the first style “wavy” or “scalloped” edge stripes. (BTW, is it my imagination, or does there appear to be a moth nip in the General’s lapel?)

For a second I thought I was loosing my mind and had now idea how I typed "moth Japanese". Now I see that the Forum is on "auto PC" and changes "moth n. i. p." (as in moth hole) to "moth Japanese". I was very worried about my mental faculties for a moment...

Is it a moth hole or a hole from a pin that had previously been there?

it's got that moth-bite look to it and i'm sure DM couldn't have cared less. don't think he was too concerned about his threads. while he didn't walk on water (that we know of), but he sure loved walking through it. (-:

When did he get the MOH? Wasn't it after 1943? Danny

What a unique MOH ribbon bar as well. The stars seem in a linear line that rotate around the ribbon. Three different finds of OLC also is cool.
