I posted this find a few years back without much response. I decided to run it by the forum members again for further review. This time in addition to the pics I included an excerpt for Frank Trzask`s site (Frank I hope you don`t mind). I believe it to be perhaps a prototype of the "Webb" bayonet/fighting knife.

Model 1905 dated SA 1906 cut down to 9". Serial # 39340. LOA 13 5/8". I value your opinions.

What a great bayonet! The knuckle guard would help keep the muzzle of the barrel out of the dirt when you flopped down on the ground and start shooting. It sure looks like the picture. Even the spear point is the same shape. Great find!
