This one was shown previously here and now all of a sudden its come from a WW2 colelctor who got it from the vet and when it was posted on here it was just picked up at a surplus store. Another case of buy the helmet not the story.

Is this one being listed by that same forum member?

Good call. What goes round comes round!

Don't know if anyone else noticed this but one one set of the pictures have been flipped around digitally. Left appears, right, right appears left. It had me mixed up for a minute until for some reason that line across the diamond caught my eye. Its fairly easy to see the 'mirror' image if you have the original post open and in a smaller browser window bring up the e-bay auction to you can compare them side by side.

Not a clue just saw the pics and remembered the helmet.

What's the procedure for forum members blatantly lying and trying to pass fakes?

^yes

People shouldn't be so quick to jump the gun and attack a forum member, not saying it's happening but it looks like it's brewing.

Firstly, I think it stands a chance that the member who posted it is not the seller. Completely different quality photos, for one. The OP is listed as 15 years old and said he brought it from a store for $80, when I was 15 $80 was a lot of money. Now if I brought something for $80 and was told it was no good I would return it. Look at the eBay photos, looks like it's in a store, I doubt our 15 year old forum member owns his own store.

Like I previously said, I have no idea if its the same person, for all I know he could have sold the helmet and now someone else is passing it off as real. I just know its the same helmet. But if you have more information that I don't and are 100% sure its the same person feel free to contact an Admin. Posting fakes to get people to talk about them before sales has happened and those members were soon banned.

Ah, I didn't realize that at first. If kerstens could come in and clear up what he did with the helmet after, that would fix it all.

I agree, IMHO I don't think the seller is the same forum member who posted it but I could be wrong. I bet he sold it to an antique store or surplus store or something and they decided to take advantage of it...

#12

Looking at the seller, it appears to be an antique store.

I think the owner of the shop is a forum member as I've seen the same display cases and backgrounds before. IIRC he had some kind of helmet with a liner that had a swastika on it...

#14

that was me! i sold it to a guy who said he wanted it for display or something. i told him it was fake but i guess hes just trying to pass it off as real! lol i guess he doesnt know about the post here on the forum. no one here will buy it. sorry guys i didnt know i was selling to a easy-green

Wrong state...but I want to say this ebay name has been seen here before, just can't remember.

He drops some big money on helmets and other militaria, so he knew it was a fake but thought he would make a quick buck...sad

Some explaining would be nice, but I am not sure if it would just be another coverup??

or someone has some splainin' to do. Based on the two postings it would seem that the forum member and the seller are one and the same.

TRR, Great detective work!!

Jkash,

Yes, I would agree with that!!

Maybe this is a family owned antique shop??

#24

Hmmm, I'd have to agree, something doesn't seem right here....

#25
