April 5, 201313 yr #1 Dale Jones of Kansas City, Missouri passed away today - April 4, 2013. I met Dale in the late 1970’s through a mutual friend who sold him his first military acquisition. At the time Dale was collecting coins, an interest which lead him to consider this purchase - a bucket of US medals, missing their ribbons, that he ultimately restored, many of which are still in his collection to this day! We became fast friends and he soon fit right into the local collecting community which was pretty small at the time. This group became the nucleus for the Kansas City Military Collectors club. Many things were exchanged between us and many happy memories were made. Dale had the uncanny talent of finding wonderful things in the most unexpected and out of the way places and never hesitated to share these finds with his friends, to whom he was always loyal. Dale’s number one comment was an invitation - “When are you going to come out?” and he meant it. Dale was a cold war veteran of the U.S. Air Force and served with a communications unit that monitored Russian radio transmissions from a base in Germany. He later became active in reunion activities and traveled the country to attend them each year. Dale was also involved in an attempt to revive the Missouri State Militia which was headed up by a retired General officer. Unfortunately the effort was short lived. He also served a term as our Club president and often participated in monthly meetings, club shows and display events. He spent the first few years of retirement as a volunteer at the National WWI museum here in Kansas City. Dale was a widely known and well liked member of the collecting community. The face of collecting has changed much in the past 40 years. Some of us can tell you a friend like Dale Jones is far rarer then any inanimate object we have in our possession. He will indeed be missed! Godspeed to him and Sincere Condolences to his family.

April 5, 201313 yr #4 RIP Dale. We had a report on Dale's condition at the Monday night KCMCC meeting and it was not good. All present signed a get-well card for him and I can only hope that he received it in the hospital on Tuesday. As Jack says... Dale was helpful to all and will be missed by his many friends.
