94th Infantry Division

Photo identified as Eda Wenger wearing the Air Transport Command DUI.  Per the red back stamp, she was photographed by the 552nd Army Air Forces Base Unit (2nd Ferrying Group) Ferrying Division, Air Transport Command, at Wilmington, DE.

 

 

 

ATC DIs.  This 4 pocket belonged to a crew chief who spent 2 years in the CBI.

A young 2nd Inf Div Vet wears the Indianhead PTC on te Cap, on the opposite side as we see.

A more modern if you will 70s-80s PTC, probably West German Made as seen on these Berlin Brigade MP Checkpoint Brassards.

A 2nd Armored Division 17th Armored Engineer GI in 1942 wears a non number Armored Forces PTC on his cap.

Anda one more from the same unit and around the same time, this one has been colorized, so the 2 there in the Apex of the PTC may have been added when it was colorized. 

Have to break my rule again and post loose examples LOL, the AAC HQ one again, these are too unique not to post and share here.

The 9th Inf Div PTC worn by Major John Frazee, 9th Avn Bn, 9th Inf Div, Dong Tam, July 1969, it may be a Beer Can, or it may be an old U.S. made one. Frazee also wears the We Try Harder button, an item recently IDed as a Avis Rent a Car button.

Another WWII  Air Transport Command PTC, has to be a record with most finds posted in this topic right LOL, a Stateside one with the war still ongoing we should think. Good shot of the khaki Shirt worn as an alterative and the EM Service cap 'Air Corps 'Crusher' look.

Carl W. Sieber LTC of the 2nd Armd Div in the late 60s with the Hell On Wheels PTC, an Infantry Officer in the Korean War.

Definitely looks like we have another 2nd Cavalry Division PTC sighting, this in 1943.  WO James Johnson, we guess in the HQ of the Division, or in one of the Artillery Battalions or in one of the support units, Johnson is later transferred out to the 92nd Infantry Division, it's 599th Field Artillery Battalion.

A Lieutenant Colonel Vincent Stace wearing the AAC PTC Roundel 1945, can't find anything on him.

Deep Throat comes through again, this on narrowing down Stace's War Record.

 His Draft Card, dated Oct. 16, 1940, shows that he was employed by
Detroit Michigan Edison Co., which at his age, 34, and education implies
that he probably  in some sort of management or technical capacity. As
he did not go on active duty until May 11, 1942, he might have been
deferred as a critical worker at the Detroit power factory.  In any
event, he was ultimately discharged Mar. 14, 1946, just short of 4 years
on active duty.  And, of course, we know his ultimate rank was
Lieutenant Colonel. But what was the nature of his duties?

Now I am going to indulge in one of my locally world famous WAGs: Stace
was not a hot shot pilot in command of a squadron or group in combat.
Here's Exhibit A:  Take a good look at the one photo of him that we
have: The angle is not great but he certainly does not appear to be
wearing pilot wings or any service ribbons over his left pocket, or any
other organizational insignia except for that rinky-dink patch type Army
Air Corps D.I.

Sorry, I have no Exhibit B to offer you but I will wrap up this WAG by
venturing to guess that Lt. Col. Stace never left Detroit as he was
performing vital duties as heavy bomber production ramped up at the Ford
factories there.

11th Airborne Division - 1946. This soldier probably did not serve with the division in combat but came along early during duty sometime after the spring of 1946 since he does not have the ribbon of the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal. Notice the embroidered jump wings and oval, Expert Infantryman Badge, World War II Victory ribbon and Army Of Occupation ribbon worn with the red to the wearer's right as was often done by soldiers on occupation duty in Japan.

A Tube Arty OCS Grad Fort Sill Oklahoma like 1967, with the Red Loops, he's wearing the official Artillery School Unit Crests there, which are a copy of the old Schools Shoulder Patch.despite the new school patch that was worn since 1957, the Artillery and Missile School.

7th Army PTC on one James A. Diamond around the summer of 1951 in Germany, joined up sometime in 1948 at 17, initially a truck driver in either the TC or QM. He reups like in 1952 and apparently switching to the Infantry winds up in Korea in Company I 38th Infantry 2nd Infantry Division, he spends 20 years in. In Vietnam he the 1st Sergeant of Company A, 4th Battalion, 12th Infantry, 199th Infantry Brigade (Sep), and is awarded the DSC for actions in February 1967.

71st Infantry Division, bullion right shoulder patch, 3rd Army bullion on the left shoulder. This uniform is offered on FB Marketplace now.  Says first offer is at $200   

Here's a triple whammy. An airborne MP wearing the SSI, bib and patch type crest of the XVIII Airborne Corps.

One Leo J. Foltz, Jr. in Field Artillery AIT Fort Sill Oklahoma summer of 1951 wears the 4th Army PTC, and interestingly the WWII era Field Artillery Replacement Training Center DI on the cap.
