Similiar to one I have and posted once.Mine was Korea era and the markings looked applied with a permanent marker(when photographed)but looking at it its actually brush applied paint

One thing can be said about the Navy, they never had a helmet that needed only "one" coat of paint. They are the masters of repaint and reissue of a helmet. ^_^

The helmet is also made by SCHLUETER .

Hi,

 

nice helmet. I think the red paint was used for repair & maintenance helmets. Which means that this helmet did not leave its place of duty for a while but was just repainted several times !

 

Please be noted that permanent (or not) market dates from the 50s or 60s.
