March 14, 201313 yr #1 This one I know is legit Only grouping I ever bought. Belonged to an Iwo Jima based P51 pilot flying with the 21st FG. James Garrison. Came with a bunch of photos, his wings, a couple of sunsetter patches, his air medal and his 201 file. Lt. Garrison I've always had a fascination with those VLR Mustang drivers from Iwo. While taking nothing from the missions the ETO guys flew, these 51 drivers flew them further and mostly over water in a single engine fighter. Talk about a gamble.
March 14, 201313 yr #2 sweet !!!!!!!!!!!! you guys in the states get all the good stuff !!!!! thanks for sharing it !!!
March 14, 201313 yr #3 That is awesome! I'm right there with you and the VLR Mustang pilots....very fascinating, and so often overlooked. You got a great piece of that history right there. Care to post some of the photos you got with the grouping?
March 15, 201313 yr Author #5 Killer! Love that dinghy whistle...is it a Brit-made Acme Thunderer? It's an Acme Thunderer. Probably not appropriate for an Iwo Jima based 51 pilot, but I had to put it on there anyway

Care to post some of the photos you got with the grouping? The photos were mostly of their living quarters and such, with a few others thrown in of the 51s etc. All were fairly beaten up like the image of Garrison. These are the ones on the hard drive at the moment. One of the Mustangs he flew Decked out in his flight gear. Note the B-5 Mae West and the B-7 or early AN6530 goggles. An interesting mix. Line up of 51s, most likely postwar as it's a mix and most likely prior to sale to a foreign government.
March 15, 201313 yr Author #7 This pamphlet was in his 201 file. Interesting how times change This was also in there documenting the first VLR mission by the 51s to Japan
March 15, 201313 yr #8 Beautiful B-10 and great extra items as well. You've got a great set of items here! Love that photo of him in his A-2! JD
March 21, 201313 yr #9 Thanks for posting. That P-51 line up is pretty cool with the mixed 506th and 21st FG Mustangs. And the 7th Fighter command report is really neat to have as well. Love all the info on that sheet. Congrats on owning a great group!
