This is a WWII US made full embroidered USMC 1st M.A.C. Supply patch. Notice the star is upsidedown. Many years ago I read about this variation and the topic gave a reason for the upsidedown star but I can't remember. Is it just a manufacturers "goof" or did it actually have a meaning?

 

Another variation. Here is the FMF-PAC supply patch with a white star and a yellow star. Once again, a manufacturers error or different meanings?

the upside down star I'd say is a goof, the different colors are variations but I'm willing to bet it had no meaning, just the available thread colors available at time of production
