Staff Sergeant Alfred J. Holtz Jr. was more than a soldier—he was a leader known for his fierce devotion to the men he served with. As part of a Scout Dog Platoon in the legendary 1st Infantry Division, “The Big Red One,” Holtz played a critical role in point patrols, ambush detection, and jungle reconnaissance, often relying on the loyalty and instincts of a trained dog to safeguard his unit.

Those who knew him remember a sergeant who loved his men—and was deeply loved by them. He carried not just his weapon and gear through the unforgiving terrain of Binh Duong Province, but also the weight of responsibility for those under his care. His courage was steady, his presence calming, even in the face of the unseen dangers that haunted every jungle path.

On July 2, 1968, Sergeant Holtz was killed in action by multiple fragmentation wounds during a hostile encounter. His loss was felt not only by his unit, but by the dog who had walked beside him and the soldiers who had followed him without hesitation.

At just 21 years old, Alfred Holtz gave everything—not just in service to his country, but in service to his brothers-in-arms. His memory endures in the legacy of the scout dog teams and the soldiers who still speak his name with reverence."

A Philippine Department Combat patch, wearer unknown, interesting in two points, first the 7th Infantry Division patch perhaps this POW was held in Japan rather then China, and was assigned to the division for administration purposes while getting discharged and going home (note the removed RD Patch). Secondly, he is a Technician 5th Grade, this rank did not exist when he was captured in 1942, so he must of just been prompted to this as a matter of course.

He stayed in theater until 1946 which is most likely when the immaculate insignia on this uniform was tailored. This one is seriously a top shelf example from some seldom seen divisions.

Mizer, interpreter and senior non commissioned officer of Team 9 of the 41st Civil Affairs Company, was a veteran of the 5th Ranger Infantry Company (Airborne) (RICA) during the Korean War. He is seen here wearing either a 5th Ranger Infantry Company scroll or the generic Airborne Ranger Infantry Company scroll as his combat patch in Vietnam. My guess is the numbered scroll.

Amazing find. Whatever he’s wearing is for sure a unique theater made one.

Yes, it's a theater made 6th Cavalry Group MECz. CGM composed of 6th & 28th Cav RCN Squadron, CRS. And she has amazing legs.

Those are two of the most beautifully embroidered insignia, immaculate indeed. I love the yellow adhering stitches.

Recent photos posted in 2024 on the U.S. Army School Of Music's Facebook page showing and officer or more likely a warrant officer wearing a 193rd Infantry Brigade SSI with AIRBORNE tab as a combat patch. To my knowledge, the last time that would have been authorized would be for Operation Just Cause in 1989 at which time the 1st Battalion 508th Infantry (Airborne) was organic to the brigade. The brigade was inactivated in 1994 and was only reactivated in 2007 as a basic training unit at Fort Jackson, South Carolina.

42nd Infantry Division - FWS-SSI

This US Army 1955 dated class A green uniform jacket is being offered on Poshmart. Interesting that is has a 4th Marine Division right shoulder patch. Pre WW2 American Defense ribbon, WW2 Pacific Theater ribbon with Navy/MC PUC and Marine GC. Army ribbons for most likely earned during the Korean War. Who knows where the PH was earned. Infantry collar disc, but not CIB offered. Too pricey for me, but maybe someone else will want to take a stab at it.

187th with seperate airborne tab? GEN Westmoreland wore his 187th w an incorporated airborne inside the patch. Posted on Poshmart.

The Persian Gulf Command on a 50s Far East Command/U.S. Army Japan Khakis.

A Spec. 4, most likely of the 716th MP Battalion, wearing a First Army patch on his right sleeve in October 1962. If anyone has any ideas as to where this gentleman could've earned that, I'd love to hear; he looks quite young to have been in WWII, never mind his rank, and I can't think of any time between then and 1962 that a First Army combat insignia could have been earned.

Odd indeed. He could very well be a WWII Vet, in his mid 30s now, perhaps having a big break in service.
