M1941 Field Jacket. Unissued or Repro?

Featured Replies

Hey guys,

I acquired this M1941 jacket and was wondering if it's original or repro.

First of all it appears to have never been issued, no dirt, no stains, no typical wear on cuffs and collar. Color appears to be still quite strong. Silver Talon zipper with "Talon Made in USA" on the back of it.

The manufacturer is Hillsdale Mfg Co. Has anyone heard of this maker?

My problem is I never came across an original unissued M1941 jacket so I'm a bit sceptical about this one, the other ones I own are quite beat up, faded and dirty.

Some photos attached.

Looks like an issue one to me. If it is, it's as good as it gets! These '41s are becoming increasingly scarce, especially in this condition...and therefore more expensive. Hope you had a good deal?

Looks good to me. If you google this mfg, you get some other examples. I think this mfg is featured in the GICG several times (but I'm not sure).

Don't be too suspicious, mint/unissued/nos stuff is still out there.

That's a great 41 with all the tags present and no collar or cuff fraying. Not very common to find them in this condition as most have already found permanent homes.

Maybe you should consider buying Lottery tickets next. It seems your luck is strong at the moment. Looks good to me too.
