December 17, 201213 yr #1 A private owned museum near Schweinfurt in Franconia. There are a lot of tanks and heavy equipment I have seldom seen at a private museum in Germany. Since a few years they have an own area for driving with the tanks and vehicles. http://www.museum-stammheim.de/ adress: Günter Weißenseel Waldweg 3 97509 Stammheim/Gde. Kolitzheim Telefon: 049 - 9381 - 9255 You need some time because the museum has such a lot of items, from the german-french war to modern times. Backtheattack
December 18, 201213 yr #2 Very nice! First museum I have ever seen with it's own gasthouse (restaurant). Military themed museums were not common in Germany when I was there in the 1980's. I'd love to walk through this one, especially the Cold War section... they might have things I remember.
December 18, 201213 yr #3 Wish this would have been around when I was stationed in Schweinfurt. I don't remember much in the way of military museums, just the technische museums. Thanks for posting the info!
April 12, 201511 yr Author #8 The 2015 event was a remember of the end of World War II. Not correct, there was no defense of Stammheim in April 1945. But here the story of the event: an air-attack set the Tiger I in flame (it`s a movie tank, not a real, used in the movie "Stalingrad" for instance) the Hetzer tank goes back (it`s a swiss one, Switzerland used the tank with a muzzle brake) German Volkssturm is defending the town american forces arriving at the town
